About this deal

The extension arm pivots at both ends, and rotates where it meets the base, so combined with the rotation in the head you can set this in a surprisingly wide range of positions. On the VFR, space is very tight when the bars are turned due to the screen, but I was still able to get the phone to fit (if only vertically). With the wireless charging head fitted, your phone starts charging after you start the engine. A small light on the charge head indicates the charging condition. If it’s solid bright blue there’s power available but no phone connected. Attach your phone and the light should go solid green to show it’s charging. Once the phone is fully charged, the light turns solid pale blue.

Once the mount is attached to the bike, removing the lever mechanism allows fitment of the wireless charging head, which you then wire up to the bike’s battery so it can charge your phone. The only time to be concerned is if that light starts flashing. If it’s flashing blue there is an error, flashing green means low power coming from the charger and/or bike battery and if it starts flashing pale blue the charger is overheating. I don’t recall seeing any of these lights yet. The smartphone is changing the world and more and more everyday tasks require one. As a result, having a smartphone close at hand is becoming a necessity versus a “nice to have.” Motorcycle riders are no exception, and they are often looking for secure ways of mounting their phones to their bikes. As with the existing Desk Mount, the reusable nano-suction adhesive base means the Wireless Charging Pad stays in place, making it easy to remove your device with just one hand.A: This is usually the result of a recent software update and is most commonly resolved by turning your phone off and on again. If you're still continuing to have charging issues, please feel free to reach out to our support team by following the link at the bottom of this article. The charger has a 1.5m-long cable that terminates in an SAE connector (the same as used on Optimate chargers), with a second cable about 20cm long that has the corresponding SAE connector at one end and a pair of ring terminals to connect to your battery at the other. You could wire this into an auxiliary switched supply on your bike if you want, but I found that without a phone connected, the USB charger pulled about 1.5mA, so would take a good while to flatten the battery.

Purely anecdotally, I have been told by a dealer that they had some instances of iPhones (I don’t know which models) experiencing issues while using a dampener, but I haven’t been able to verify them and there are a huge number of people using them without any problems. To achieve standard charging output of 5W, this requires an adaptor with a minimum output of 5 Volt/2 Amp*An average motorcycle battery this will take about 1 month to drain at 12mA or 2 months at 6mA. We recommend disconnecting the charger from the battery if your bike is parked and not started for prolonged periods. The standard Wireless Charging Head is for indoor use such as in your car or desk. Will the Weatherproof Wireless Charger drain my battery while I'm parked? What I can tell you is that I’ve had no problems over many thousands of miles with a Samsung Galaxy S21 and a Google Pixel 7 Pro fitted to a BMW R1250GS using a dampener. Two screws are used to fit the base, with a pair of 16mm and 18mm-long M4s supplied to replace the ones fitted to your bike. Make sure you use the right length, and don’t force them if they seem to be bottoming out.
