About this deal

A scroll through some Darkplace fan threads to see which lines are the most parroted and an honest inventory of why will reveal a lot that needs to be examined. PORTENTUM: In an escalating series of dangerous experiments, Nulltec tries to unleash and harness Nick’s psychic powers. He wrote, directed and starred in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace for the Peruvian market, which subsequently aired on Channel 4 and has not been repeated due to its radical and polemic content. The authorial voice of this ridiculously incompetent man is still there and recognisable from the source material.

But they get pretty stale if you read the whole novel at once (this is a common problem with comic novels).

I attended a reading from this in a large London theatre, and consumed this as an audiobook, both brought me closer to Garth. From the word processor (that's correct) of the Archduke O'Darkness, Garth Marenghi - Chief Frightener, Quakerman and Lord High Petrifier - come three new dark tales.

The story is competently told and nicely plotted with great insight into the multiple layers of Marenghi's character and family life. But this Marenghi instalment took advantage of it to be a doorstopper and even more wildly hilarious! Garth Marenghi was born in the past, graduated from his local comprehensive (now bulldozed) with some O levels in subjects. With no Internet to distract me, I dove into Incarcerat by the cold winter light coming in through the windows followed by my LED lantern (whose color temperature is noticeably different).

Doomed to survive crash after crash of the airliners his protagonist, which is now himself, pilots, Nick grapples with his emerging paranormal abilities.
