About this deal

I noticed that by restricting the waste line output that outputs from the Smart Buddie, the pressure increases dramatically (as does the rate of clean water produced, ~13 mins to fill a 1 gal milk jug, and up to 4 bar (60 psi). I have additionally made sure that both RO membranes are deeply seated, and within the Smart Buddie manual, I am basically using Configuration G.

The smart way to REDUCE WASTE WATER, DECREASE RESIN CONSUMPTION and EXTEND MEMBRANE LIFE! YOUR Water MADE Better - Increase the effectiveness of your RO system, and REDUCE waste water by up to 65%! Reverse osmosis booster pumps are used to increase the pressure going into your RO or RO/DI system which make it operate more efficiently and can decrease consumption of DI resin. Designed as an accessory for Reverse Osmosis units in areas with low water pressure, or for users that want maximum output and the best quality filtered water from their RO systems. Item 540292. The Smart Buddie Booster Pump includes an internal automatic flush valve that flushes the membrane for 18 seconds every time the unit is activated. Flushing clears debris build-up on the membrane, and is critical to obtaining peak performance from the RO unit. After flushing filtered water production will begin. Typical water pressure in homes is around 40 psi. When someone opens a tap, that might decrease significantly. It might be okay for most uses but it’s not exactly ideal for a reverse osmosis filter system. Easily plumb into most reverse osmosis systems to increase water pressure up to 90 PSI and reduce waste water.

What is an RO Booster pump?

INCREASES THE PRESSURE – Reverse osmosis booster pumps are used to increase the pressure going into your RO or RO/DI system which makes it operate more efficiently, improves the economy of the unit, and water production. WORKS WITH 50-100 GPD RO/DI UNITS – Smart Buddie universal booster pump works with 50 to 100 GPD RO and RO/DI units including the RO Buddie, Classic RO/DI, Twist-In RO/DI, APEC, LiquaGen, SpectraPure, and more.

The Smart Buddie is designed to work with most RO and RO/DI units with a total output between 50 and 100 gallons per day. The Smart Buddie booster pump is quiet, easy to install, and can significantly increase water output. Not only does the Smart Buddie increase pressure, but it has an integrated auto-flush valve and safety pressure switches, simplifying and automating your RO/DI production process. MAXIMIZES EFFECTIVENESS – Increase the effectiveness of your unit, this booster pump for reverse osmosis water systems can reduce waste water by up to 65%. It can also help decrease resin consumption and increase membrane life. The unit will boost the incoming pressure to around 90PSI and as long as you have enough water volume it will work for a unit up to 100GPD. As for the mentioned leaks we have found a few possible reasons, some do not push the tubing into the connectors enough. The o-ring in the fittings require the tube to be pushed past the o-ring to seal around the tube. We call this the "double push", first it stops at the o-ring and then it stops when it goes past the o-ring. Another has been how the tubing is cut, using scissors will crease the tube in most cases and not seal around the o-ring in the fitting correctly. We suggest a razor blade that will make a nice clean cut. The other could be a bad fitting but we have seen very few of these. The Bird Buddy’s battery lasted about a week on a charge; your time will vary based on how many birds show up at the feeder, and how often you use the live view. You get a warning in the app when the battery is low, but I recommend splurging for the solar panel roof to spare yourself the trouble of having to recharge it manually. Bird Buddy review: VerdictTUBING & ELBOWS INCLUDED – Six low-profile 90 degree elbows are included to simplify plumbing and also allow connection to the AquaticLife Twist-In RO/DI units. Blue, Yellow and Red tubing is included for convenient installation. Getting a pump for your RO system is a great way to make the most out of it. Saving you a bit more water and producing you even more. The 300 CC flow restrictors have been used since the beginning with the booster. If you have really high TDS its possible to foul the membranes, we have not had any problems. The 300 CC combination valve is a combination of the flow restrictor and a auto flush valve. The valve will open when first powered on or after approximately 24 hours of operation. You are correct, you would want to remove the ASO from the RO unit. It will cause problems with the smart buddie if left installed. My question is: Is this configuration of using a flow restrictor on the waste line to drain, after the Smart Buddie, an appropriate configuration?

The high pressure switch turns off the booster pump if the filtered water pressure is greater than 33.35 PSI, prolonging the life of the pump. You can choose to not use the waste water outlets on the Smart Buddie if you would like or in one case I had a customer split the waste line into two, one to the 300 CC of the Smart Buddie and a second to a 450 CC inline flow restrictor. This allowed them to keep the higher waste water ratio. Most of the times we have customers wanting to lower the waste water output, so the smaller combination valve was used. The Smart Buddie booster pump is quiet, easy to install, and can significantly increase water output. Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process. Small residential RO units will theoretically operate on very low pressure--down to 35 psi--but the reality is you won't get a lot of water and the product water quality may be compromised if the unit runs below 45 psi. RO units typically run well on municipal water pressure of 60 psi, but they run even better with a small pump to boost the pressure to 80 psi or higher. The increased pressure will also improve the economy of the unit (it will run less reject water) as well as the quality of the water. RO units thrive on pressure! I'm not sure there is a pro or con to either way. I think it has more to do with the TDS creep across the membrane and how often its turned on and off through out the day. I have found that the RODI unit will have the initially higher than normal reading after each start up regardless if flushed or not. What I do is actually limit my production to longer batches. So I either use a timer to turn the unit on and off a single time per day or I use a count down timer to operate the unit with a specified duration. Reverse osmosis booster pumps can easily increase the pressure going into your RO or RO/DI system if your starting pressure is low. Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process. RO units typically run well on municipal water pressure of 60 psi, but they run even better with a small pump to boost the pressure to 80 psi or slightly higher. This will increase efficiency as well as the rate of production, and can also potentially decrease consumption of DI resin. Get maximum output and the best quality filtered water from your RO system! Not typically aquarium RO units, the Smart Buddie attaches well to them. I have problems with residential units that have built in ASO and components that can not be removed. The Bird Buddy comes with a pole mount, which you screw into the bottom of the feeder. I wish it had a tightening screw; I had to use some duct tape to ensure that the feeder wouldn’t wobble after I put it up. Bird Buddy review: Price and availability The three-year MOU will expand the POSB Smart Buddy programme across all junior colleges/Millennia Institute, secondary and primary schools by 2025 Hi @AquaticLifeProducts , I was wondering if you could kindly advise. I have a working Smart Buddie with BRS 7 Stage RODI unit, which features 2 RO membranes in series ("staging configuration.") This worked very very for one year, and the Smart Buddie is fantastic. It was able to get a the pair of 75 GPD RO membranes to 5 bar (70 psi). However, after replacing the membranes with 150 GDP, the pressure measured just following the output of the second membrane, the pressure dropped to 2 bar (30 psi). The Smart Buddie has a high pressures switch on the filtered water line that will turn off the Smart Buddie when the pressure reaches 28 - 32 PSI. Keeping the original ASO with a different or not exact PSI shut off could turn the water off to the Smart Buddie, causing the low pressure switch to activate on the supply water side. Not really activating the High pressure switch side. This is why we suggest to remove them, as to not to compete with each other on the filtered line pressure. As a feeder, the Wasserstein case is sturdy and big enough that I often found more than one bird chowing down. It holds a little under 2 quarts of seed, so it’s slightly larger than the Bird Buddy. The seed can be easily loaded by removing the roof and pouring it in. (You can also opt to just fill the feeder tray, but you will find yourself refilling often, depending on the traffic.) If you want to give it a little wipe in between feedings, we recommend taking it apart and using bleach, but Wasserstein also says you can use a mixture of soap, water, and vinegar. Further reading

The system relies on pressure to push the water through the membrane. Without enough of this push, the output of the system will suffer. The amount of waste water will increase while the permeate will decrease. What is the difference between a booster and a permeate pump? The sealed pressure pump is low-voltage and powered by the included transformer, which ensures safe, quiet operation. So if you used your auto top off with a timer and only for a short period of time once per day you would produce a single long production of RODI water and not have the unit turning on and off multiple times per day. Or if you put the Smart Buddie on a timer you would be able to have the unit flush like you want each time and only produce once per day for a longer run and have the auto top off stop the Smart Buddie when full. I also noticed that the Bird Buddy doesn’t get every bird that comes to the feeder. I happened to look out one morning and saw both a male and a female Cardinal eating seeds at the same time, but the Bird Buddy never recorded it. Low pressure switch turns off the booster pump if water pressure is less than 7.25 PSI, extending the life of the pump.
